Marquee are proud to announce that our client Elias Anton has been cast in a lead role in the upcoming feature film Australia Day.
Elias will star alongside Australian acting legend Bryan Brown, Shari Sebbens, Sean Keenan, Matthew Le Nevez, Jenny Wu, Daniel Weber, Isabelle Cornish and Phoenix Raei in Australia Day, a new feature written by Stephen M. Irwin (Secrets & Lies) and directed by Kriv Stenders (Red Dog). The film is a co-production between Foxtel and Hoodlum.
Foxtel Head of Drama Penny Win described the film as “…showing Australia Day from the other side. It’s about an Australian farmer, a Chinese illegal immigrant, a Persian family and an Indigenous girl. The structure of it is very like Crash. These characters intersect but they don’t know each other. It’s about taking a stand.”
Most recently Elias has starred in the ABC mini-series Barracuda, directed by Rob Connelly, to critical acclaim.
REVIEWS of Elias Anton in Barracuda:
The Australian lamenting –
Anton, making his TV debut in the title role, winning the part while in Year 11, is simply tremendous. This should be the start of a long career as a leading actor.
The Guardian adding –
An impressively controlled performance from Elias Anton
